Grandma Sweater Weather

I love when the seasons slowly begin to change and the air becomes crisp with the smell of fall. There is a magical time between summer and fall when there is no need for a coat, but a shirt is just not enough. I kept hearing my neighbors and close friends say that this is their favorite season in NY and I now know why. It is the best time to go out shopping, take a walk with the dog, and go for an adventure in a new neighborhood.

In the past I had troubles with layering, I always felt like I didn't have enough time while getting ready to think about all scenarios for my outfit (i.e. what if we go grab a drink and the restaurant is hot or what if this 'grandma' sweater isn't cute enough for where we are going?). But as I got more comfortable adding pieces to my outfit the art of layering became easier. I learned its not about where you are going, but how you feel. I like feeling like I rolled out of bed in my sweater, but cute when I take it off and have just a shirt on. Practice layering, there is no right or wrong way and that is the fun of it!

Just like my love for shoes I have a love for handbags and I find myself getting into a habit of grabbing the last bag I put my wallet and keys in. I finally switched out my mulberry bag (see my last three posts here, here & here) for my balenciaga one. I love the effortless look it has.

Best In New York; Brazilian Manicures

sweater, j.crew; skirt, dvf; shoes, tibi (similar); bag, mulberry

Through my 'Best In New York' series I want to share with my readers all the things that I love, visit, and do in New York City (thoughts?). I wanted to start this for myself as well to get out of my cozy little neighborhood of Chelsea and explore new places, restaurants, and parks that are only a train ride away. Nothing is constant in the concrete jungle that I call home and I want to share my encounters and favorites with you. I'm starting my first post with the best Brazilian Manicure (yes Manicure). One of my close friends is Brazilian herself and finds the best of the Brazilian World in NY. After she talked countless times of how amazing J Sisters left her nails, I knew I had to try it myself. I have to agree this is the best manicure my nails have ever had. The salon is stacked with headshots and thank you notes from all different celebrities and I kept waiting and hoping that one would walk through the door.

The manicure itself takes about an hour after carefully and painlessly removing your entire cuticle, which gives your nails a lighter more clean feeling. The whole process was so relaxing that I could have sat there for another hour. J Sisters is definitely on the top on my list for manicures and Ceia Crema is the manicurist to see. Thanks for having me !!

I love pairing a silly sweatshirt (like this one from American Eagle) to make a weekend outfit more fun. I think this may be one of the last days that I can wear a sweater without a coat. I found this amazing skirt at the Joie friends and family sale this weekend - I only took it off once!

Peplum Tops

You honestly cannot go wrong with a Peplum Top, it can give curves in a place where there is none and turn your figure into the perfect hourglass. I love the way it turns a simple sweater into a piece that is more playful and flirty.

My tibi mules have been a staple in my closet and I am wearing them to death this fall. They are a great shoe to grab and go and can handle the New York City cobblestone streets. I love adding a bright colored bag to a basic outfit of black and white tones, which seems to be my go-to colors for fall.

Indian Summer

I finally began to feel like myself this weekend after being sick for over a week (sorry for the lack of posts!). This weekend weather in New York felt more like summer than fall, but I still couldn't help wearing my newer fall pieces -- can you blame me?!

My newest obsession has been BCBGMaxazria; they are one of the only brands that carry XXS in every piece they make. The tops and dresses are just a little bit tighter and the bottoms fit like a glove, like this piece that I posted on my instagram last week. This is huge for a petite girl like me (I am 5'1) who feels like nothing was made for my height. You will be seeing me in BCBG a lot more this fall!

Transitioning Crop Tops

Crop tops are not only for the hot summer days. They are the perfect layering piece to transition into fall. Throw them under anything from a fur vest (like muah) or under your favorite cardigan -- all your hard work getting in shape for bikini season doesn't have to go to waste!

 sunglasses; celine

I can't get enough of over sized sunglasses. They are the perfect accessory for any kind of day.

These Joie shoes are my favorite purchase this fall. They are extremely comfortable and the height is great for running around town for errands or date night.

The Power of Leopard

dress, clutch, & shoes; dvf; sunglasses, miumiu

Leopard is a powerful print. It changes a simple black maxi dress to a sexy date night one. Whenever I want to feel a little bit sexier I always add a piece of leopard and a red lip.

White Crop Top

While in Greece my sister and I played around with different outfits and cameras. I miss playing dress up with her and having double the amount of clothes to choose from. I can't wait to start incorporating this crop top into my fall wardrobe.

A Black Belt

A belt does it all. I actually stole this belt off another dress of mine and pair it with almost everything. Sometimes it's hard to see what accessories you do have because they are attached to other pieces. I strip all of my clothing of it's accessories so I can make use of everything in my closet. Sorry DVF dress that you once belonged to, you may never get this belt back ;).

Morning Light

I love the way the Meatpacking District feels early in the morning. The city is just waking up and feels alive and ready for a new day. This weekend has been crazy with Fashion Week and these Joie shoes are perfect for running around.

Almost Fall

I'm found myself slowing transforming my outfits from summer to fall as I can't seem to let summer go. This will be an Indian Summer for me for sure. These Dolce Vita shoes are my favorite for the transitioning season, the ankle dresses up a bare leg but the toes are still covered.

Getting ready for fall in the city. I love way the air smells and the small streets in the West Village are full of rustling leaves. This outfit is becoming my go-to fall look (these rag and bone jeans feel like pajamas). Nothing is more easy than a white tee.
